Over 35 years ago, during a world health crisis, 45 artists gathered for one of the most extraordinary recording sessions in music history- “We are the world”
It kind of raised the bar for our first grade choir. After weeks of rehearsal, on the day of the performance, 50+ kids were stacked up to render (our version of) the iconic Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie composition.
Now, which elementary school musical goes per plan? Some part of the stage set fell, some mic chose not to function, our parents’ Kodak camera flashes blinded our eyes but we brought the house down. At that age, you can care for anything less than letting your voice drown. Good times!
As I played around with DALL.E the other day, I thought I’d let it take inspiration from the song (and relive nostalgic childhood memories)-
“We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let’s start giving
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me..”
What are your favorite childhood songs?
