Bot- like bots vs Human-like bots

Uber driver: “Hey, how are you doing today?”

Me: “Good. How about you?”

Uber driver: “Well, I got up today. I can’t complain!”

Me (thinking): okay, you have my attention

Humans or bots- Some communicate. Others build relationships.

Some bots behave like 19th century butlers. Others let out a cheer when a blood-pressure reading is low. I’ve heard arguments on both sides. Bots should be bot-like and bots should be human-like.

The key to these nuances is “where” you apply personality to hold a conversation. Not everyone likes bots. But no one likes dumb bots.

Human-like bots can make task completion, like picking flight seats, enjoyable. Probably not required when someone’s looking for a hotel Wi-Fi password asap. Thoughts?
