What’s common between Aspirin, Scotchgard, Velcro, the Post-It note, and the technology behind the HP Inkjet printer?
Serendipity had a say in their beginnings.
The world is more coming to realize how Serendipity is not merely luck but a capability that can be cultivated.
E.g. Have you not benefitted from random conversations with those you shared your offices with? From pausing at a strangers post when scrolling feeds?
Organized Serendipity breeds Innovation.
“It is hardly possible to overrate the value…of placing human beings in contact with persons dissimilar to themselves, and with modes of thought and action unlike those with which they are familiar…Such communication has always been, and is peculiarly in the present age, one of the primary sources of progress”.
-John Stuart Mill
Are some just always “luckier” than others? How can we they acquire this skill?
How important is the #diversity of perspectives we invite? The #inclusion of choices we make?
Are all buzzer beaters “just” luck?
How can we make our own luck?
How important is positioning ourselves through commitment and hard work? When we do that, we put ourselves in a position to achieve more consistently. Not just relying on happenstance. Being in the right place at the right time and savoring the moment begins with wandering and loitering.
What has been your tryst with Serendipity?
