The “hi” or “hello” may be intended to be a polite initial probe. Even then, being Free ≠ being Available to answer a chat or call.
How about switching “Hi” with “Hi xyz, [State your request]”.
It saves time, is efficient, enables the asynchronous exchange of information. Allows the recipient to provide a meaningful response as soon as they can get to your ask. Most of all, in case the recipient gets back to you hours later, you don’t forget why you typed “hi” in the first place. 😆
