Unfinished: A memoir

One Line Review

A personal testimony of how Confidence (and courage) eats strategy for breakfast.

One big learning

If you have to be an anomaly, be an ambitious one.

From now on if I was going to be an anomaly, I was going to be the shiniest damn anomaly around. I had no idea if I could pull off that sort of attitude or not, but I was sure as hell going to try.” – Priyanka

The One thing: What is the most important point the author makes in the book?

Be like water. Nothing can kill it’s Vibe.

“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.” – Bruce Lee

How did the book impact me? Key takeaways

✔️ Boundary pushing is an advantage rather than a problem in most creative field.

✔️ At all stages of life, Own your choices. Have courage of conviction.

✔️ Relinquish the want to be In Control of your circumstances. Its not a need. Be like water.

✔️ Confidence is not a permanent State. The harder you work at being able to access it when you need it, the better it would serve you.

✔️ Taking the road less traveled can help you stand out. Being different can be a superpower.

✔️ The best way to shut down detractors is by being an achiever and keep achieving because there are so many people I do believe that it’s important to keep achieving in the face of your detractors. The actions of a few is not representative of the behaviors of a community.

✔️ Pick your battles wisely -there are times when you should speak up and times when it’s better not to. One must apologize for what was done out of ignorance; try and fix what can be fixed too but when rage spews without any form of fact checking, it is futile to engage.

Closing thoughts

Our experiences in our formative and teenage years shape our personality to a great extent. From the bullies at school to the cheerleaders at home- we owe them big time for helping us arrive. #WhatDoesn’tKillYouOnlyMakesYouStronger. Moments of self doubt are not unacceptable; fear is normal. Lady luck helps bring opportunities; hardwork helps manifest. The journey from being interested (in something) to Being (someone) Interesting is laced with your blood and sweat. Tis the 21st century but success, still, has no shortcuts.
